Booked: True Crime Book Club
Calling all self-proclaimed true crime junkies! Booked: True Crime Book Club will be starting in October and will meet the first Thursday of the month at 3pm in the Blooming Grounds back room. Bring your detective brain as we learn about some of the most unnerving serial killers and their victims.

Letters to Santa
November 27-December 9
The magic mailbox is coming back! Santa loves receiving letters from Winona’s children, so be sure to stop by the Youth Department and send your letter to the North Pole. Each letter received
before December 9 will get a personalized response in the mail, so be sure you include your address on the letter! Any letters after December 9 are not guaranteed a reply, as it is Santa’s busiest time, but your letter will still reach his desk.
You can write your letter on paper at home, print this template to bring in, or pick up a printed template at the library.

Makerspace Drop-in
Drop by the Youth Department for Saturday morning activities! These self-directed activities are out during the full 10 AM-12 PM time frame, so stop in whenever. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
October 28 will be a self-directed craft. No registration required.

Caring for Loved Ones
Are you caring for a loved one (over the age of 55)? Learn about programs at Elder Network. These programs work to reduce caregiver stress and isolation for the care receiver as well as give people the ability to remain in their own homes longer.

Making Gourdgeous Art

On Saturday, December 16th, Rachel Pauli of Gourdgeous Jewelry will host a workshop for teens (ages 12-18) at 11 am and one for adults (ages 18 and older) at 12:30 pm in the Winona Public Library’s Bell Art Room.
Participants will make birdhouse ornaments using gourds while learning about the plant and its uses throughout history.
Registration is required as space is limited.

History Day Hullabaloo
Do you have or are you a student participating in National History Day? The Winona Public Library along with the crew from National History Day in Minnesota are hosting a History Day Hullabaloo on Tuesday, December 19th from 3-7pm on the library’s 2nd Floor.
What is a History Day Hullabaloo? A hullabaloo is an event where students conduct primary and secondary research with the guidance of library staff, get one-on-one help from History Day staff and mentors, and attend a mini-lesson on a range of topics.
Please note, this event is subject to change with inclement weather.

Magazine Recycle Day
On Wednesday, December 20th, the Winona Public Library will once again hold its all-day Magazine Recycle Day during the library’s open hours. All magazines from 2021 will be available for the public to take and keep. This will help the library make way for the 2024 magazines.
Magazines will be available on the Library’s 2nd floor. This is a first-come, first-serve, one-day-only event. The library will not hold magazines.

Drop in the Youth department anytime between 10 AM and 12 PM to make a scratch art masterpiece!
December 27, 11 AM: Tecreation: LittleBits*
For ages 9-15
Create with LittleBits at Winona Public Library! Youth will be introduced to circuitry with LittleBits and then let loose to solve the project for the day. Registration is required.
December 28, 10 AM to 12 PM: Make a beaded bracelet
Drop in the Youth department anytime between 10 AM and 12 PM to make a beaded bracelet for yourself or your friend…or both!
December 29, 10 AM to 12 PM: Lego free play

Memory Café
Hybrid (Virtual & In-Person) Meetings offered every Wednesday at 2:30 PM
Join us for a stigma-free one-hour program. It’s a time to socialize and engage with others, exchange experiences, support one another and learn something new. From the Suez Canal to Dolly Parton, we explore a new topic every week!
Meeting Location: Winona Friendship Center (251 Main Street)
The first Wednesday of the month session is hosted at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
